A New Tradition

This Easter we tried something new and I made "Cascarones."  It was so much fun.  I think we have a new tradition in the making at our home!

What are Cascarones?
Cascarones or confetti eggs are festive, hollowed-out eggs.  In Spanish, cáscara means eggshell. Cascarones are similar to Easter eggs but they are not hard boiled.  They are hollow inside!  Filled with confetti.

Decorated, confetti-filled cascarones are smashed over ones head!  I mean, how fun is that!!!!  I wish I would have had this when I was younger!  Apparently you can have cascarones for any occasion! Easter, birthdays, halloween.
Having a cascarón broken over one's head is said to bring good luck.

Slowly I'm making progress.  I needed way more confetti and glitter than I had bought.  Extra trip to the store!  Oh well, now I know for next time!

This was a huge hit!  I could see making these for other occasions as well.

Running to the next one!

Glitter covered hands, feet, heads, bodies!  Wish I would have made more.  The ten we had were gone in no time.

We also made our usual dyed hard boiled eggs and used a "dinosaur kit" to snazzy them up!

This Easter was perfect!  Despite my little guy being sick and having to go to ER the day before....  The day was beautiful!  We talked about the true meaning of Easter (due to no church, he was running a fever that morning) and we watched a video about about the true meaning of Easter.

The Easter bunny left a basket!  How thoughtful that he remembered flowers for me and hot sauce for my hubby!  jajaja

Breaking the cascarones was a perfect end to the day!!!!

Hoping you had a great Easter as well.
