Spanish Friday

Today I am participating in Latinaish's Spanish Friday.  The English translation is below.

The majority of you know that I work in a dental office. I love my job and the patients even more.  Sometimes there are patients that make the job of the dentist and assistant even harder.  Maybe they do not know that these things drive us crazy.  So, here is a list of 6 things to never do in a dental chair.

  • Please do not take off your shoes before sitting in the chair....especially if your feet are stinky!
  • Don't talk on your cell phone with your friend about the party you went to last night.  We don't care!  (well maybe I do a little!  I love gossip.  haha)  We have a job to do and there are other patients waiting.
  • If it is possible, do not bring your kids in the operatory with you.  There are germs and sharp instruments!  Don't let the baby crawl on the floor.  Although we clean the room, there are germs and possible drops of blood on the floor.
  • When we say, "Open wide" we are not kidding!
  • We know you want to help us, but please keep your head straight.  If we need you to turn your head, we will tell you.
  • PLEASE come to your appointment on time. I have been working all day. Probably with out a lunch or a break.  I understand there are emergencies or things that can happen that are out of your control.  But if you come to your appointment and say to me, "Oh, I'm sorry I'm a half hour late.  I forgot I had an appointment"  don't be suprised if I am not very friendly.  I have things to do too.  I have a son who is waiting for his mom to come and pick him up.  We respect your time, please respect ours.

Can you tell it's been a stressful week?  I know going to the dentist can be nerve wracking....  just letting off a little "friendly" steam.

  1. Hahahaha! Muy buen post, Tara! I'm LOL'ing at the thought of people actually taking off their shoes. I can't believe people would actually do all of that stuff. Too funny. ;)

    1. Leslie,
You wouldn't believe 1/2 the stuff I witness! It's pretty comical. The taking off of shoes before sitting in the chair is a HUGE one! I can't believe how many people do this!

  3. What is WRONG with people? Can't believe some let their toddlers crawl on the floor! Que gente. Seriously makes you wonder what people are thinking ... or ... actually, what they're not thinking. You'd love to have me as a patient. Obedezco todas las reglas. Thank you for commenting on my Spanish Friday post, Amiga. Abrazos! <3

    1. Ezzy,
I bet you are the perfect patient!
OMG, people let their kids run around the room, pick up instruments, crawl on the floors, shake the chair (while we are drilling on them) and these are just a few. Some people are C-R-AAAAA-Z-Y!!!!

    1. We actually tell patients (who bring their kids and do not make them behave and let them roam around the office and touch things like they are at home) to not let them crawl on the floor or do not touch anything, these are dangerous to NO AVAIL! They usually get defensive and let their children continue doing the above! We sound like a broken record. We have had to ask some patients to reschedule when the have child care available. It's crazy! Some people feel the need to bring the whole family! Including cousins, grandma, etc... We usually ask those people to go back and sit in the waiting room.
