Mexican Candy

One day the Mexican  went and DJed un bautizo (a babtism, i've noticed there are lots of reasons for DJs in the Mexican culture and babtisms are one of them....) and came back with a little party bag for our son.  Inside were  all types of candy!

Little did I know that inside that bag was my new addiction.  Introducing:

PELON PELO RICO

OMG!!!!!  Talk about rico!
The flavor I tried was tamarindo and I instantly fell in love!  You twist of the cap, push up the bottom and just like that, candy comes squooshing out...... like that little playdoh head we all remember. (if u are as old as me)

I just knew my son was going to love it.   He didn't , he spit it out in the trash!  Que horror!!

So, one day we were at El Jalisco (the mexican store) eating some taquitos and afterwards I went looking for el candy mas rico del mundo......  Guess what!  I found MANGO flavor!!  My son LOVES MANGOS!  I'm gonna buy these!  I bought them, a big bag!  Once in the car, of course I immediately opened it.  I gave one to my son and I took one as well.  I was in the front seat oohing and ahhing at its rico-ness then  my son
starts gagging saying ooh ewww, i wanna spit it out!

Ok, so mango didn't go over well with him.  I think it is the spicy-ness, it has chile in it.....i'm almost positive.  I have not read the ingredients because i'm scared of what i will see.  Probably glucose, cornsyrup, sucralose and everyother name known to man when it comes to sugar.

If you ever get the chance to try one, DO IT!  They are good although it could put your body into a sugar shock!!

Another favorite of mine are Vera Mango paletas (suckers/lollipops).  Just be prepared for all the chile you have to eat before you get to that mango sweetness!.  Once I was having sinus issues and a Vera Mango paleta cleared me right up!  haha!

Mexican Candy ROCKS!

  4. You know I love me some Mexican candy - but that just looks so icky that my mouth is watering (and not in a good way! LOL --- Like the excessive watering when your mouth is trying to spit something out!) ... hee hee... I can't stand tamarindo and I've tried it multiple times in multiple candies... I will stick with my Bubu Lubus! :)

  5. Tracy,
I saw Bubu Lubus there & thought of u! I was surprised at how expensive they were! Not sure how many come in a box, but they were like eight or nine dollars for a box! With out knowing if I was going to love them, i looked for a smaller box but i didn't see one.........
I'm going to try them though! I've got to after reading all about them in ur Clementino posts!

  13. I grew up Mexican Candy and I love the Sandia ones and I also used to eat Sal Con Limon. Loved those plus the Cajeta wafer things, my favorites. I love Tamarindo and Chamoy.

    1. I sure hope not! I know there was a scare in the past about pulparindos containing lead. Which I loved so was very upset when a friend told me of the lead scare. I'll see if I can dig up some info. If my memory serves me correctly, what ever issue there was w/pulparindos, all is good now. Can't tell you when or where I learned of this, I just remember researching it before I bought some years after the whole lead thing...
