Mexican-isms continued

This evening we went out to dinner.  On our way home, my husband and I were talking.  All of a sudden in mid conversation, The Mexican says, "You know how I roll..."
My eyes got really big and I looked at him all crazy.  I was in a little bit of shock.  Where in the world did he pick that up?  I felt a strong urge to laugh, but didn't!  He said it perfectly.

We continued talking.  I was letting loose and venting up a storm.  I proceeded sharing my thoughts about work politics etc.  Once again The Mexican surprised me by nodding his head and saying, "True dat.."
This time I couldn't help my self and let out a small giggle.  Who has he been talking to?  Is he picking this up from the guys at work?

Once home, my hubby was showing me a website he's been working on.  I was complimenting him on how awesome it looked and what a great concept it was.  To which his reply was, "It's a bomb!"  I couldn't help myself.  I busted out laughing.  I almost fell out of my chair and onto the floor.  He was looking at me like 'what?".  I blurted out, "You mean,... It's the bomb!"

I needed that laugh!  I'm sure I'd be providing him with the same humor if we were in Mexico and I was repeating slang I had heard.  He was due for a Mexican-ism!

  1. Tara, jijjiji, I can totally relate. I mess sayings up all the time. For example, until somebody corrected me, I used to say something was a "mute point," instead of a "moot point." Or that someone was a "splitting image," instead of "spitting image." WTH! I love learning these nuances of our language and then smacking myself on the forehead and saying, "Duh!" Love it, amiga. : p

  2. Ezzy,
I'm sure I've messed up some too.... (hahaha, but quiet! Mi mexicano thinks I'm an expert when it comes to the English language.) He does crack me up though. I think he enjoys providing me with a laugh. I wish I could remember some of the things I've totally butchered from the Spanish language. I may have to start a list. Cuidate amiga!
