I'm Back!

Happy 2013!

I've been MIA for quite some time and I appreciate everyone who has stopped by my "blogicito" to check up on us.  Everything is well in the land of  Me and The Mexican.  I was dealing with some work related issues that had me physically and emotionally exhausted.  I was in a constant bad mood and honestly I think I was falling into a state of depression.

I am happy to report that I made some changes and am back to my old fun loving self!  Yippee!  I love my new place of employment and have more time for me, my family, and blogging!

Now on with the show...

I had so many things to blog about but am currently drawing a blank.  Remember the notebook I was going to get and jot down funny things I should blog about?  Yeah, I never got it....

So, for now let's catch up with what's on my cell phone.
Exciting, right?  (sarcasm-for those who don't speak it.)

My BFF had a baby!  Anyways, this is the diaper cake I made for her baby shower.  I'm sure everyone knows what a diaper cake is but just in case you don't, I'll explain.  Basically it is a bunch of diapers rolled up to resemble a cake you eat.  It has little baby goodies (rattles, shampoo, washcloths, onesies, etc.) stuck throughout.  Then, mom to be can use the diapers!

After grocery shopping one day I realized I was out of fruit and vegetable wash.  I remembered I recently pinned how to make your own fruit & veggie wash on Pinterest.  So I followed the directions to a tee!  The water was suppose to turn brown from the dirt and wax that comes off of the produce.  WHATEVER!   It never happened.  My water was as clean afterwards as when I started.  Now I'm wondering if the whole fruit & veggie washes are a scam, if the pinner just added some dirt to her water to get a bunch of pins, or if my produce was very clean...

Have I mentioned I can be a little ditzy?  Well here is the proof.  One day hubby wanted to meet for lunch.  I told him I knew the perfect place!  I told him that there was a new Peruvian restaurant that had opened down the street and I was dying to try it.  We drove there, went inside, sat down, looked at the "hot bar" they had.  Hmmmm... nothing looks "Peruvian" so we moved onto the "cold bar."  I found some quinoa, that's from Peru, right?  I settled for chicken and dumplings, a very UN-Peruvian dish.  I can't remember what hubby ordered but is was as equally UN-Peruvian.  It was good though.  We'll be going back.  I thought it was really weird that ceviche wasn't on the menu.  I didn't hear any Spanish being spoken throughout the restaurant.   Strange!

Guess why?  Because we weren't at a Peruvian restaurant!  I promise I know how to spell Peru!  See! I just typed it!  Apparently, I looked at the name of the restaurant and my mind played a trick on me.

After we walked out of the restaurant and were leaving, I looked at the sign above the restaurant and it hit me like a ton of bricks.   Hubby and I got a good laugh at my expense.

.

Speaking of eating out...  Do you love fortune cookies as much as I do?  I realize this pic is super blurry.  Such a simple yet important message.  It says, "Don't be afraid of fear."

Look what I found!  Poo poo paper!
Who wants some?
That's what I thought...
We saw this in a gift shop of a museum we visited.  I really wanted to purchase some.  Wouldn't it be funny to write a thank you note on some poo poo paper then send it to your not so nice friend or boss?  I would never do that, but the thought did cross my mind.

Hubby is in Mexico at the moment.  He is visiting familia.  This is a picture our son drew for his abuelita.  If you look down at the very bottom he wrote, "Te quiero mucho abuela."  Hopefully our son and I will go on the next trip.  This trip was spur of the moment and not a lot of planning was involved.  My Mexican is not a planner!  I didn't want to jeopardize my new kick ass job by asking for time off since I've only been there for 3 months.  Sad we couldn't go but very glad hubby is there representing for us!  I know his mom, brother and sisters are very happy to see him and spend time juntos.

Hubby arrives back from Mexico tomorrow!  Yay!  We've missed him.  Hopefully he took pictures and I can share them with everyone on my next post.  I also want to vent about international calling and phone cards.  I'll save that for next time.

Promise I'm getting that notebook and more entertaining post will be up soon!

  3. I'm glad you're back. I wonder if there is some sort of poo poo paper product that would work with a diaper cake.

    1. Thanks Bill! I'm very happy with my new job. "Purus" turned out to be a "healthier restaurant." Apparently, everything is organic and made from scratch...no preservatives, or any of the bad stuff. It was expensive but good!
ooooh! yuck! I don't like pop-ups! Please let me know if you continue to get them! Not sure what is going on.
